Our adventure started about 5:30pm with this family as we loaded everyone on the boat and made the short trip to the barrier island, Lea Island, just South of Topsail Island, for our family beach session.  Autumn on the Carolina coast is just beautiful–it is a time when on Topsail Island, Surf City, South Topsail, and Figure Eight Island  locals can enjoy the mild temperatures and beautiful shorelines without the crowds of summer.  The afternoon of our session was a beautiful day, warm and sunny but the intense heat of summer had diminished.  When we got to the island–as is my usual routine with beach sessions–I like to take candid images of the family having fun on the shoreline.  The expressions captured of the family interactions are priceless, especially the little ones!   When the sun starts getting lower on the horizon, I take the family into the dunes and there I capture more candid images but also some family images with good composition.
