I was very fortunate to have been asked to do an extended family Topsail Island Beach Session last week.  It was a beautiful day with partly cloudy skies.  As the afternoon progressed however, the southwest winds picked up.  I was a little concerned about how I would keep my lighting equipment from toppling over on the beach.  When I arrived, the plan was to do some family portraits indoors and then take some on the pool deck before heading to the beach–before the windblown look took hold on everyone.  We were able to capture some pretty indoor photos, but there is nothing like a photo session right on the beach with a beautiful sky, sand and lots of smiling faces!  This Topsail Island Beach session family reunion was in honor of a milestone birthday and some relatives came from the West Coast to spend time on  beautiful North Topsail Island.

Capturing 14 people all looking at the camera and smiling is sometimes a challenge, especially with young children, but we were able to capture some memories of this special occasion to last a lifetime.  We had fun breaking into smaller family groups to capture some more intimate family photos and took advantage of plenty of empty beach as April is still relatively  quiet on Topsail Island.
